This course introduces students to the concepts necessary for effectively using new technologies and digital tools. By applying these concepts to the communication context (purpose, audience), students will be able to decide what tools are most appropriate. Students will also practice using a variety of digital tools and new technologies and reflect on how they affect communication

GEC 111 Comparative Society and Culture 3(3-0-6)
This course introduces issues in the social and cultural aspects of modern society. It examines the differences and similarities in the structure and history of thoughts and communication styles of differing cultures and how they affect the transmission and understanding.
GEC 112 General Psychology 3(3-0-6)
This course is an overview of major topics in modern psychology, the scientific study of behavior, and mental processes. As a general course in the discipline of psychology, it introduces some of the fundamental concepts, principles, and theories with a consideration for the complexity of human behavior.
GEC 121 Fundamental English 3(2-2-5)
A study of English communication skills, e.g. reading, writing, speaking, in dealing with people in different careers. Fluency and accuracy in listening and speaking reinforced by multimedia as well as real situations for interactive learning and participation.
GEC 122 Intermediate English 3(2-2-5)
This course focuses on accuracy and fluency with an integrated skills and strategy-based curriculum that aims at developing the four language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The course also focuses on improving pronunciation and increasing vocabulary. This is a continuation of the Fundamental English with an emphasis on intermediate level skills.
GEC 223 Advanced English 3(2-2-5)
An advance course of English which emphasizes written communication skills. Practice in reading and summarizing selected articles and reports on different topics dealing with society, culture, and economy, from professional journals and newspapers.
GEC 131 College Mathematics 3(3-0-6)
Foundation of mathematics at college level; sets, linear, quadratic, exponential and logarithmic functions, inequalities, matrices, differentiation, integration, probabilities, and graphs.
GEC 132 Use of Computers in Business 3(2-2-5)
The study of methodology in information processing which include the elements and functionality in computer systems; concept of applying computer systems in business applications, integrating computer hardware, software, data, and procedures; computer for business purposes with emphasis on using microcomputer and other peripherals
